What if I need healthcare? You’ll still have high-quality care at $0 premiums.
Here’s how the healthcare plan proposed in current U. S. Steel CBA proposal works.
The USW has asked us to continue providing health care coverage with no premiums for employees – and that’s what we want to do. The healthcare plan in the current proposed CBA allows us to do that while managing costs.
We propose moving to a plan that still provides top quality care while managing the rising costs of healthcare. The plan features increased discounts from providers in the network and doesn’t pass costs on to the employee. The health care providers in the network are a group of carefully selected, high-quality providers who are committed to quality care. Plus, in emergency situations, you’re always covered. You can go to any hospital or facility in an emergency.
But, potential changes to a healthcare plan can be unsettling.
Below are some scenarios that help explain what would happen in certain situations.
|…we’re having a baby and the closest hospital is out of network||You’re fully covered since this is an emergency situation|
|…I’m injured off the job and taken to a hospital that is out of network||You’re fully covered since this is an emergency situation. You would choose an in-network provider for long term or follow up care (if needed)|
|…I need to have a colonoscopy||You would choose from in-network providers|
|…I want to get an annual physical||You would choose from in-network providers|
|…I am a cancer patient who’s under treatment, but my current doctor would be out of network||You can request that your current doctor is covered in this situation to maintain continuity of care|
|…I’ve had heart issues for 20 years and my cardiologist would be out of network||You can request that your current doctor is covered in this situation to maintain continuity of care|
|…we’re currently pregnant with a due date expected in early 2023 and our doctor would be out of network||You’ll be able to stay with your current doctor throughout the pregnancy|
